Duan Xuan walked to the edge of the cliff, standing with his hands behind his back. Suddenly, he disrupted the anger-filled discussions of the disciples, “All of you, return and rest. Also, no one is allowed to go to Wen Jing’s residence in the next few days, understood?”

Liu QianMo quickly replied, “Understood.” Then he quickly pushed Mo ShaoYan and the others. “It’s already late. Go back and sleep.”

Mo ShaoYan hesitated and asked, “Shifu, is Jing shidi really……”

Duan Xuan coldly responded, “Even if he really died, it was out of his own free will! Why are you guys feeling indignant for him? The person who should be killed is Jun YanZhi! All of you, go back and concentrate on practicing the sword. No one is allowed to continue thinking about such things.”

A sigh rang out as all the disciples fell silent. Duan Xuan jumped down from the cliff and flew away.

“How should we screw Wen RenMu?” After the disciples had their heads down for a long time, Gui XinBi finally opened his mouth.

“…………”

“Our cultivation level isn’t as high as him, and we also don’t have any dirt on him. We would need the help of God.” Mo ShaoYan sighed.

“Why do you feel the need to praise him? From what I see, he’s already narcissistic enough.” Gui XinBi coldly retorted.

.

Wen RenMu had always believed that humbleness was one of his strengths.

As someone with a one in a million heavenly wood spirit root, his cultivation level was the highest among all the younger generation disciples. Xi Fang and Lu ChangQing both had high hopes for him.

His appearance didn’t even need to be mentioned. He was handsome and tall; even people from the neighboring countries had heard that the Qing Xu Sword sect had a young and handsome cultivator with a wood heavenly spirit root called Wen RenMu.

To put it crudely, there were very few girls who wouldn’t admire him or blush upon seeing him.

Thinking like this was fine, but if he said it aloud, it would make him seem classless or uncultured.

For the past ten or so years, he had controlled his private life very well. Someone with his character was also hard to find. He believed that he had lived up to the six words “full of ambition with good character.” Men with his inborn status, talent, and appearance, which one of them wouldn’t be hugging one on the left and one on the right? They might even have taken all of the female disciples of the Sword sect into their harem.

Only he could still politely and tactfully reject the females who came to court him multiple times.

Since he needed to choose a dual cultivation partner, then naturally, he needed to choose one who was satisfactory in all aspects. Their talent, appearance, and reputation all had to be able to match up to his own. He wouldn’t even look at people who weren’t up to standard even if they threw themselves into his arms.

Finally, he had found someone who fit all the standards, and that someone was Wang Yue peak’s Ji KeQing. She had an ice variant spirit root, outstanding appearance, and a personality as cold as ice, practically never talking to male disciples. She was perfect in all areas and was the best choice for a dual cultivation partner.

Everything was originally going smoothly, but it was a pity. Jun YanZhi had to appear in the Qing Xu Sword sect.

His talent was on par with his, and his appearance was a level above his. Additionally, he had this gentle and elegant temperament, making it hard for people to be considered on par with him, only able to watch him from afar.

In these past few years, Jun YanZhi’s reputation gradually rose, and the disciples just had to enjoy comparing the two of them, secretly laughing at him for “not being able to defeat Jun YanZhi in any aspect.” Over time, he became a bit indignant and dissatisfied, yet he couldn’t rid himself of unhappiness in his heart. Thus, he would, from time to time, run to a remote cliff in the Xun Yang mountains to drink alone.

That night, like usual, he was in the dense forests of the mountain, drinking alone with the moon and venting the unhappiness in his heart. Once he was starting to get drunk, a pretty and youthful shimei came over, blushing shyly under the moonlight as she sat next to him and softly comforted him. She hesitated for a long time before finally affectionately saying, “No matter what others may say, WenRen shixiong is forever a hero in my heart.”

This shimei’s name was Rong Xuan, a disciple of Xi Zhu peak who shyly claimed that she had admired Wen RenMu for a long time but didn’t dare approach him. Wen RenMu, being low-spirited and slightly drunk at the time, couldn’t hold back when a beauty showed affection and in the end did the activity between men and women with Rong Xuan by the cliff.

This was the first time doing it in his life, and this was also a low period in his life; hence, his willpower was weak, and he wasn’t able to hold back anymore since then. He had a few more midnight rendezvous with Rong Xuan, unable to stop.

Finally, after the initial passion passed, he was a bit more clear-headed again.

This was because he received a mysterious and baffling letter.

“Midnight rendezvous, lingering and tangling together to the point of forgetting yourself. If the peak lord of Wang Yue peak knew, she would be extremely elated.”

At that time, he was already engaged to Ji KeQing, and the peak lord of Wang Yue peak especially loved this disciple of hers. If she knew of his immoral behavior, there was no need to even bring up whether or not the engagement would still stand; her killing him was even probable.

He thought for a long time, feeling uneasy and agitated, but he didn’t know who was secretly causing trouble. In the end, fear overtook him. That night, at midnight, Wen RenMu found Rong Xuan and said in a righteous and serious tone while observing her expression closely, “Truth be told, I am already engaged and will become dual cultivation partners with someone next year. Although you and I have fallen in love, we aren’t fated to be together in this life.”

He had already predicted the various reactions Rong Xuan might have; whether it was pitifully crying, attacking out of anger and embarrassment, revealing everything out of hatred and ruining his reputation, or not marrying in this lifetime due to a broken heart. He had also secretly thought of a few phrases to counter with each case. Stabilizing her was the foremost priority.

However, what he didn’t expect was that after Rong Xuan calmed down for a while, she only tranquilly said, “Give me a Fuxiang pill, one hundred middle grade spirit stones, and ten high grade spirit stones. You and I will no longer owe each other anything. Just pretend that this whole thing had never happened.”

Wen RenMu didn’t think that she’d be so carefree and easygoing and was stunned for a moment. “……It’s good that you can think it through.”

He came from a family of cultivators and had some savings, so he was barely able to pull out that many spirit stones. To Golden Core stage cultivators, the Fuxiang pill was a very precious treasure, able to help break through bottlenecks and rapidly increase cultivation. However, the precious ingredients used in making the pill were extremely hard to find. Even between the five great sects, there weren’t more than ten Fuxiang pills. Wen RenMu had gotten one early on and had carelessly divulged it during one of their intimate sessions, even letting her see once with the attitude of showing off.

Things had already come to this. Unless he killed Rong Xuan, it would definitely result in great losses for both parties if they couldn’t come to an agreement. He debated for a long time, but in the end, he couldn’t bear to actually kill Rong Xuan. Thus, in this midnight rendezvous with Rong Xuan, he ended up giving those things to her.

Seeing Rong Xuan turning around and leaving, he suddenly felt a bit reluctant and sad. He gently said, “One day as husband and wife means one hundred days of deep feelings. In the future, if you ever need my help, feel free to ask. I will definitely not refuse.”

Rong Xuan smiled but didn’t reply, leaving once she had gathered everything.

This originally should’ve ended here. Wen RenMu, however, couldn’t eat and had his thoughts occupied every day. Gradually, he began to regret how he ended things with Rong Xuan, and another thought appeared in his mind: First, push off the wedding with Ji KeQing and then repair his relationship with Rong Xuan. This would definitely upset the peak lord of Wang Yue peak, but Ji KeQing originally treated him rather indifferently. After chasing her for a few years, she still didn’t really have him in her heart. In comparison, it was hard to give up Rong Xuan, who was gentle, pleasant, and considerate.

After a few days, however, a piece of news spread within the sect. The peak lord of Xi Zhu peak suddenly broke through her bottleneck and had successfully reached the Golden Core stage. And Rong Xuan had become a close confidant of the peak lord and received rich rewards. As soon as Wen RenMu heard it, he became stupefied on the spot and then called out Rong Xuan in the middle of the night to question her. Rong Xuan hesitated for a long time before finally saying, “This was all the peak lord’s plan. She had long known that you had a Fuxiang pill.”

Wen RenMu couldn’t believe it. “You……the gentleness, thoughtfulness, and love were all faked?”

“……That’s right.”

Becoming crazy with anger, Wen RenMu asked Rong Xuan for the spirit stones. Rong Xuan, unwilling to return them, took the chance to run. Wen RenMu’s anger couldn’t be quelled. He wanted to capture her back for questioning. Right when he was frustrated and down, Duan Xuan went crazy. Wen RenMu was sent to Gu Jing sect to call back Jun YanZhi.

At that time, he was filled with anger and had no way to vent. He felt that everything had happened because of Jun YanZhi and couldn’t wait to get rid of him. The sooner, the better. Believing that the big tortoise was very treasured by Jun YanZhi, he, with bad intentions, spread the word about the death of the big tortoise in order to make him sad.

After Wen Jing and He Ling gravely injured Jun YanZhi, Wen RenMu happened to bump into him on the way. At that time, Jun YanZhi’s body was exuding demonic Qi with a sword in his waist as he slowly walked in the snow. Wen RenMu angrily went up to question him. However, Jun YanZhi’s mood was also extremely bad. With one move, he almost caused Wen RenMu’s pulse to stop and viciously said, “I am the demonic cultivator whose crimes are unforgivable. If you have the ability, then kill me.”

Wen RenMu was extremely furious and ecstatic at the same time. Then, he fainted from the pain and didn’t wake up until many days and nights later. Fortunately, he was saved by the owner of Raomu villa and was able to survive.

Once he returned to the Qing Xu Sword sect, he discovered that Jun YanZhi was missing. Wen RenMu waited uneasily for many days. Originally, he had thought that Jun YanZhi had died, and all was well from henceforth. But, one day, when he went out in the morning, he saw a turquoise- clothed man with an elegant temperament standing by the door with his hands behind his back.

He and Jun YanZhi had deep-seated hatred. Even if he was burned into ashes, Wen RenMu could still identify him. He quickly yelled furiously, “What do you want to do?”

Jun YanZhi indifferently said, “See if you have died yet.”

Finished speaking, he gave a fake smile before lightly flying away.

That smile scared Wen RenMu so much that he broke into a full body of sweat, his back tingling. He didn’t dare to provoke Jun YanZhi, nor did he dare to do nothing. After a few tense days of being on edge, he finally bit the bullet and reported it to Xi Fang.

This was his one-sided narrative with no evidence, so it would be difficult to convince other people with it. Wen RenMu originally didn’t hold much hope. However, he didn’t expect that after Xi Fang heard his words, he fell into thought for a long time before he suddenly gave the order for Zhu Jin to gather all the Foundation Building stage disciples and let them immediately assemble at Hui Shi peak to siege Jun YanZhi.

This was what had happened previously.

It was just that things changed too fast. Jun YanZhi didn’t die. Wen Jing, however, entered the Punishing Immortal Tower to suffer the pain of incineration in his stead. It was surprising yet also moving, making people feel emotional.

That day at night, Wen RenMu laid on the bed, flipping back and forth, unable to sleep due to sadness. Wen Jing was willing to die for Jun YanZhi. How rare was that…… If that person could also treat him so sincerely, no matter what had happened before, he could overlook it all……

It was a pity……

Right then, a female voice soundly came from outside the window, “Wen shixiong, can you come outside for a second?”

Wen RenMu abruptly sat up.

This voice, even after a hundred years, he could still identify it. This was clearly Rong Xuan’s voice, gentle and lingering. Rong Xuan had always called him Wen shixiong when they were alone. Wen RenMu clenched his fist and asked, “Why are you still coming to find me?”

The sound of someone running away came from the window.

Wen RenMu immediately opened the window and saw the back of a woman rapidly retreating into the night. It was vague and blurry. He couldn’t see clearly. Wen RenMu hesitated for a moment. In the end, he frustratedly and unhappily rushed out the window and chased.

After flying in the mountains for a long time, the figure in front was sometimes close and sometimes far before suddenly entering a dense forest. Wen RenMu gritted his teeth and questioned, “What’s your purpose in leading me here?”

That woman didn’t answer, only continuing to fly forward. The moonlight tonight was bright. Wen RenMu could clearly see that woman disappear by a giant stone.

Wen RenMu quickly chased forward. Breathing heavily, he took a look, and as expected, he saw a woman hiding behind the giant stone. Her cultivation was in the late stage of Qi Refining, her body blocked completely by the giant stone, leaving only a few strands of hair peeking out from behind the giant stone.

Wen RenMu’s emotions were turbulent. “Why did you lead me out here today?”

That woman didn’t respond, but those few strands of hair slightly trembled.

Wen RenMu became more agitated and tried his best to calm down. “You and I were together for many months. I can’t believe that it’s worth nothing in your heart and that everything was only for the sake of getting benefits. What more do you have to say to me?”

Those strands of hair trembled once more.

“Since you have nothing to say to me, then why did you lead me out here?” Hundreds upon thousands of words were stuck in his throat. Ultimately, they turned into a complaint, “I…… for the first time…… for the first time…… Did you know that it was my first time?”

That woman chuckled, but her voice was deep and carried a bit of hoarseness.

“Preposterous!”

The spiritual Qi in the surrounding area suddenly surged. A person flew over from a nearby place and slapped Wen RenMu in the face twice. “Who is that woman who ’s having rendezvous with you?”

Wen RenMu was dizzy and immediately retreated a few steps. Then he saw a beautiful and aloof woman standing in front of him, her face cold as frost and her body covered with a wet robe, as if she had just bathed.

Wen RenMu covered his face, stunned. “Peak, Peak Lord Li?”

Li QingYun yelled, “Come out, all of you!”

Silence rang out.

Finally, those few strands of hair behind the giant stone unwillingly came out. That person wore women’s apparel, yet their figure was tall and burly, which made it seem extraordinarily funny. That person kept their head down, not daring to show their face, and gave a proper salute, “Good evening, Peak Lord Li.”

He then unnaturally gave a salute that was used by women to Wen RenMu, “Good evening, WenRen shixiong.”

Wen RenMu narrowed his eyes. His seven orifices were practically leaking smoke. “Gui XinBi!”

Gui XinBi replied in an unnatural tone, “I hurt WenRen shixiong’s heart. I deserve a thousand deaths for my crimes.”

The invisibility talismans all around were torn, and suddenly, the sound of laughter being held back rang out. Twenty or so people surrounded them, covering their mouths as they gave a salute to Li QingYun. Wen RenMu, face black, looked over one by one. Other than Hui Shi peak’s Liu QianMo and other Hui Shi peak disciples, there were also Bei Yan peak’s disciples and Gao Xiao, as well as a few disciples of Tian Heng peak, all with expressions of embarrassment and awkwardness, yet there was no trace of Rong Xuan, who led him here.

Li QingYun’s anger soared, her voice carrying signs of an incoming storm, “You are already engaged, yet you mess around and have rendezvous. Shameless. Do you have anything else to say?”

These people didn’t know that Li QingYun had once suffered because of a man when she was young. She hated men who were frivolous and heartless the most. What Wen RenMu did today just happened to poke her sore spot.

The sharp whistling sound of fast wind appeared in the mountains. The air gathered around her palm was as fast as a gust of wind.

Footnotes:

Shimei is a younger girl in either the same sect or under the same master as you.

It’s a saying that means that once a couple has become husband and wife, there will be deep feelings even if you separate. Although they weren’t actually married, it just basically meant that once mutual feelings happened, there will always be remnants of it.

Seven orifices: two eyes, two nostrils, two ears, and mouth.

The I that Gui XinBi uses here is solely used by girls. It’s like he’s using she or her to refer to himself.

Tn: Hello! I’m really sorry for the delay, and thanks for all the comments. They really helped in getting me back into translating again. I mainly went missing this time because I got really busy and just kept putting it off. Also, once again, please don’t repost this anywhere! If you want to download it or store a copy, so you can read it yourself, that is fine. Just don’t post it online! It really kills my motivation to see if posted elsewhere like on Wattpad or something. My site is literally free to visit, so I don’t think there’s any need for it to be reposted for sharing reasons.

P.S. Gui XinBi you absolute madlad. I’m sorry for almost forgetting your existence. I can’t believe you all did that to Wen RenMu.

    • Gui XinBi is the fifth disciple of Duan Xuan. He also apparently has a poisonous tongue and is a bit tsundere. That’s what I got from the glossary tho lol. I haven’t fully reread everything yet, and I think he mainly appeared super early.
