The big tortoise opened its mouth. It was a bit anxious.

“Shifu and shixiong both lied to us. Do you understand?” The man put the tortoise down and indifferently said, “I no longer care about him anymore, yet you still care? Even if you care, he won’t return.”

The big tortoise anxiously and flusteredly crawled to the door. Its front leg pushed against the wooden door, as if it wanted to crawl out.

The man lowered his head, glanced at him, and frowned, “What are you doing?”

The front leg of the big tortoise pawed at the wooden door.

The man sat motionlessly on the bed for a long time before he suddenly stood up and pushed open the door, “Where do you want to go?”

The door squeaked as it gently swayed.

The big tortoise immediately rushed out, but it seemed to be unable to make up its mind as it glanced around, as if it didn’t know if it should crawl towards the left or the right. Finally, it turned its head around and looked at the man behind him before obediently shrinking its head back and lying there dazedly.

That man’s chest undulated for a long time before he calmed down. He expressionlessly picked up the big tortoise from the ground and closed the door with a bang.

……

In the tea house, Wen Jing didn’t notice that person. He was thinking.

Li QingRan had no clue that《Thunder Sword Method》was the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》. This fact was only known by Jun YanZhi. Sui Rang being able to leak out that Li QingRan had the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》was completely strange and inexplicable. Jun YanZhi was definitely involved.

Nevertheless, if Li QingRan running away was arranged by Jun YanZhi, he might use Li QingRan to raise a big fuss in the future.

Tonight, he would have to go and check out Li QingRan’s manor.

Once he had sorted out everything in his head, there was no need to continue staying at this tea house. Wen Jing found an inn at LinFeng city to reside in and then concentrated on resting and keeping his spirits high.

At night, the clapper was struck three times.

“The weather is dry. Be careful of setting things on fire!” The hoarse and drawn-out voice of an old man rang out, seemingly leading people to the beginning of a ghost story.

Wen Jing flew out from the window, heading straight for Li QingRan’s manor.

He had stayed here for a while now, and in the afternoon, he specifically went to the front door and pretended to stroll around for a while, so now, he was very familiar with the path.

Soon, a shadow lightly and agilely landed on the roof of the manor, looking into the courtyard. He silently landed, cast an invisibility talisman, and slowly moved into the courtyard.

The manor was a mess. Clothes that were left behind were everywhere. Tables and chairs had fallen onto the ground with no one to pick them up. This meant that the people left in a hurry, only bringing the most valuable items with them.

Now that he thought about it, it wasn’t easy on Li QingRan. He was a lascivious and lustful person. Songstresses raised by wealthy families, concubines, and maids totaled about thirty. Many of them were hard to deal with. Often, they would cry, make trouble, or threaten to hang themselves. He had to direct everyone to pack up, and he had to gently coax and settle the mental states of his concubines. It was really no small feat.

There were no cultivators around here right now. Wen Jing relaxed slightly and went to the library of the manor.

Dozens of quaint and elegant bookshelves stood straight while a few scattered books were on the ground. There was, however, more or less nothing missing.

Wen Jing picked up a few books and flipped through them. He couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional. To find the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》from so many books, how long would it take?

He pursed his lips and suddenly felt as if he understood.

These thousands of books would probably take an entire night to completely flip through, not to mention that spiritual Qi would need to be inserted into the book every now and then to check if it was the inheritance. Busying away like this, there wouldn’t necessarily be any gains even after a few days and nights.

Who would have the patience to search for a book that “might” or “could” exist while at risk of being captured by Jun YanZhi?

It would definitely not be Jun YanZhi since the sword method was already in his hands.

So, everything was just to be able to catch a turtle in an urn.

Who was the turtle then?

Wen Jing’s back felt cold. He suddenly realized that he made a very severe mistake.

He instantly flew out of the library, wanting to leave while it’s still dark out. Unfortunately, it was already too late.

From behind, a cold, calm, and familiar voice that made his heart pound abruptly appeared.

“Here to find the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》?”

Wen Jing was so agitated that he wasn’t able to think.

Why did they meet under such circumstances? He’s not the turtle that Jun YanZhi wants to catch!

“Why does this sir use a disguise? Do you not dare to show your true appearance?”

Wen Jing gritted his teeth.

The current situation was dangerous. Should he show his true appearance? He was hurt to this degree; it was really hard to face him…… However, if he didn’t show his true appearance, wasn’t he dead for sure tonight?

Wen Jing thought for a moment. Then he lowered his head and got rid of the transformation. Slowly turning around, he faced him with the side of his face that he thought was perfect and unharmed as he walked under the moonlight that shone through the window.

“Shixiong, it’s me……I’ve come out of the Punishing Immortal Tower.” Wen Jing felt as if he was completely naked. He looked at that slender figure in the dark with a bit of caution and a pounding heart.

That figure quietly stood there for a long time, not talking.

Suddenly, a human figure flew in front of him like a ghost. His face was elegant and thin, and his eyes stared at him without blinking. It looked as if he was in disbelief, as if he wanted to feel him yet didn’t dare to, as if he wanted to touch him but was afraid of him flying away. He didn’t even dare to breathe loudly.

Wen Jing slightly lowered his head, “Has shixiong been well these past few years?”

“En……” Jun YanZhi slowly, tentatively stretched out his hand, gently caressing his cheek. His movements were careful and full of adoration, as if he would disappear if he used too much strength.

“Shixiong……”

“This time, are you going to stay for a long time without leaving?” Jun YanZhi gently held his hand, but he also seemed to be tightly chaining him, as if he was afraid he was going to escape.

“En……”

“How have you been these few years?”

Wen Jing lightly sighed inside before quietly saying, “Alright.”

Jun YanZhi held back for a long time before finally softly whispering, “Can I kiss you? I’m afraid that you’re not real. In the past, as soon as I kissed you, you would disappear…… I’ll be more careful. I’ll just touch your face.”

“En……” Wen Jing lowered his head. His face heated up, but at the same time, he also felt inexplicably sad.

Those warm lips slowly got closer, stopping briefly on his cheeks before slowly moving towards his mouth.

Wen Jing’s heart skipped a beat. He turned his face to the side in a fluster; however, he was held down and pushed back, floating to a dark corner like a gust of wind. His back bumped into a cold wall. A tongue filled with aggression and the will to conquer probed in, eager and deep. Jun YanZhi mumbled, “Sorry……”

Wen Jing felt unbearable heartache as he chaotically entangled with him.

After kissing for who knew how long, Jun YanZhi finally stopped and pressed his forehead against Wen Jing’s. His hand caressed Wen Jing’s cheek. His expression slightly changed, and a ball of light immediately lit up in his hand.

Wen Jing’s face filled with scars was exposed without any obstructions in front of him, catching him off guard.

Half of his face didn’t have any smooth skin. Bumpy red scars were all over the back of his head; not a single piece of hair was left. When they were burned, they melted into the skin, becoming a black blob. That face looked like a ghost that came out from hell.

With a single glance, Jun YanZhi froze. Anxious and full of heartache, he didn’t know how to react. He buried his head in Wen Jing’s shoulders, “How did you become like this?”

“I was burned by the fire in the tower.”

Jun YanZhi was distressed as he caressed Wen Jing’s face, “Does it still hurt?”

Wen Jing lowered his head. Jun YanZhi’s reaction made the feelings of uneasiness and inferiority in his heart completely disappear. Instead, he comforted him, “These are all old scars. It has already long since stopped hurting.” He looked at the sky and remembered that Jun YanZhi wanted to catch a turtle in an urn. Then he quickly said, “Shixiong is still busy. I’ll leave first and come find you some other day……”

Jun YanZhi trapped him tightly in his arms and said in a jumble and rush, “Even if I’m busy, I don’t have to be now. You’ve already left me for three years. Let’s first do some……catching up.”

Footnotes:

Night watchman/Time keeper: This was a job in ancient China to tell time at night. Someone would beat a gong or clapper and patrol around town; the number of times beaten corresponds to the time, like maybe once for one o’clock. In some places, they would also yell out phrases like “The weather is dry. Be careful of setting things on fire” to try and minimize fire hazards by reminding people. This job also served to deter thieves since there was someone patrolling around town. It’s now mainly only seen in shows.

Catch a turtle in an urn: This is an idiom for setting a trap to capture a certain person or group of people.

Tn: YES! They together again! Jun YanZhi was so shocked lol. He was like I don’t care about him anymore hmph… Wait, is that you shidi?! *Immediately pitiful* You’re staying this time, right? Lol, you’re so in denial.

Also, surprise update! I found some time to translate (procrastinated). Unfortunately, my editor is also having finals troubles right now, so this is currently unedited, which is why you might find some mistakes. I’ll update it once my editor survives the finals. Wanted to get it out there since the last cliffhanger was kinda mean. Either way, we back one week early! ^^
