Jun YanZhi lightly waved his hand behind his back. A black thing the size of a washbasin already couldn’t wait anymore. It climbed up from the wooden plank under the bed and threw itself into Wen Jing’s arms like it was acting spoiled.

“Big tortoise!” Wen Jing’s waist was bumped, causing pain, but he was so excited that he couldn’t close his mouth. The big tortoise lay on his legs with its four legs in the air, struggling desperately to turn over.

Wen Jing smiled as he hugged the big tortoise in his arms and lowered his head to kiss its big head, “……I haven’t seen you in three years. You’ve grown a bit bigger.”

The big tortoise excitedly rubbed against his neck.

Jun YanZhi gently watched Wen Jing and then touched the wagging tail of the big tortoise, quietly saying, “It missed you greatly in the past few years. Without you here, it ate a lot less than before.”

Wen Jing looked around and then stretched out his hand, asking, “Do you have any food? Let me feed it?”

Jun YanZhi quickly handed over the bag that was used by the big tortoise when eating. Wen Jing pulled out a few fruits and fed it. Then, he kneaded its head with his head down. The big tortoise’s initial excitement had faded, but it still wasn’t willing to leave. With its four legs shrunk into its shell, it lay on his legs and watched him intently as it digested.

Jun YanZhi quietly said, “Is your waist okay? I’ll treat your wounds.”

Wen Jing’s face redded. The burn scars on his face and body were this ugly, so he always felt a bit of a psychological barrier. He lowered his head and declined, “This wound is from a sword. It’ll be fine after I eat a few pills. Shixiong has set up a trap to capture someone; this is more pressing.”

Jun YanZhi’s adam’s apple bobbed. He gently persuaded, “It won’t take much effort. I’ll go once I’ve treated you.”

He didn’t continue to listen to Wen Jing’s refusal and put the big tortoise onto the ground. The big tortoise confusedly looked around. Seeing that Jun YanZhi flipped onto the bed and held Wen Jing in his arms once again, it immediately, instinctively rushed towards the door.

It kicked the door for a long time but wasn’t able to go out. It could only shrink its head into its shell.

Wen Jing’s clothes were pulled open by Jun YanZhi. His face was red like a shrimp as he called out, “It doesn’t hurt anymore. There’s no need……”

His waist was stroked by a wave of spiritual Qi, and the pain was immediately soothed. It felt cool and comfortable, like sitting in a clear spring in summer.

Jun YanZhi’s body was tightly pressed against his back. He gently said by his ear, “Does it feel better?”

The left half of Wen Jing’s face was disfigured, so he purposely lay on his side and pressed that half into the bed, leaving only the unharmed right side of his face facing up. That voice was low and pleasing to listen to, making all the hair on his body stand up. The right half of his face felt numb and tingly. Warmth surged up in waves.

“En.”

The two people very tacitly stopped speaking. Jun YanZhi sat up halfway, his warm breath spraying onto his face. The warmth seeped into his skin and ran wild in his blood, making Wen Jing remember that night when the two were very intimate. His thoughts instantly became a mess.

He clenched his fist and whispered, “Shixiong, it’s a bit hot……”

“……Bear with it for a bit, it’ll be better soon.” Jun YanZhi’s voice was still soothingly calm. His breathing, however, became slightly heavier.

“Okay……”

It was just treatment, but it almost made his heart jump out of his chest.

An hour later, Jun YanZhi took back his spiritual Qi and sat up, “It’s done.”

Wen Jing touched the sword wound on his abdomen. The wound was almost completely healed, and the pain, which felt as if he had broken his waist, from earlier had also disappeared. After suffering for three years, the light pain remaining was nothing. He immediately straightened his clothes and jumped down from the bed, “It doesn’t hurt at all anymore.”

Jun YanZhi watched in a daze for a long time before quietly saying, “How did you get the wound on your face?”

“I was burned in the tower.” Wen Jing picked up the outer robe on the chair, deliberately turning the right side of his face toward Jun YanZhi, and then casually said, “They are all old wounds. They stopped hurting a long time ago.”

Jun YanZhi lowered his head, his eyes slowly becoming wet.

Wen Jing smelled the outer robe. The stench of sweat rushed over, and he instantly retched. He then quickly lowered his head and smelled his body, awkwardly thinking, This smell is truly something. I really don’t know how Jun YanZhi was able to endure it just now.

He said to Jun YanZhi, “Shixiong, I have been on the road for a dozen or so days without bathing and am dirty and smelly. Can I take a bath?”

Jun YanZhi immediately got off the bed and walked out with his head lowered, not even looking at Wen Jing. His voice was a bit choked up, “Wait.”

Wen Jing looked around. The inn’s furnishings were simple, and the room wasn’t large either. It should be a very inconspicuous inn in LinFeng city, perfect for hiding from people and avoiding attention. He walked to the door to tease the big tortoise. The big tortoise also didn’t mind the stench of sweat on his body and excitedly crawled into his arms, rubbing around.

Just when they were playing happily, the door opened with a creak. Two servants carried a big wooden tub and placed it on the ground before leaving once again. Jun YanZhi stood by the door and ordered, “Reserve the room next to this one as well. Prepare a large wooden basin, and put it next door. Don’t disturb us.”

“Okay, understood.”

The water in the big wooden tub was slightly cold. It was the temperature he liked. Wen Jing saw Jun YanZhi carrying the big tortoise and walking towards the neighboring room and thought that he was really a tactful and considerate person, understanding to give himself some space. Thus, he gently took off his clothes and climbed in. The slightly cold water came in contact with skin that had been tortured in many ways, making him feel relaxed.

Wen Jing let out a sigh-like groan.

Right then, the door opened again with a creak.

Wen Jing curled up as he watched Jun YanZhi walk in and close the window. The room instantly fell into darkness. Jun YanZhi took off his outer robe and hung it off to the side before taking off his inner robe as well, revealing a shapely and slender body.

Wen Jing only knew that he was taking off his clothes, but he didn’t dare to stare and watch him. Feeling uneasy, he could only concentrate on splashing water on himself nonstop. Soon, the space within the wooden tub became much smaller. A person climbed into the tub from beside him, sitting down with his warm body pressing against his back.

Wen Jing’s breathing abruptly quickened. His four limbs were also a bit stiff, “Shixiong also wants to bathe?”

I haven’t prepared mentally yet ah!

Jun YanZhi didn’t talk. His finger, however, gently caressed the messy litter of scars on Wen Jing’s body. His gaze didn’t hold any lust. Instead, the more he watched, the more scared he was.

Old scars and new scars were stacked on top of each other, ugly like a tumor, covering half of his body. Jun YanZhi closed his eyes. He felt as if he could hear the sizzling sound of fire burning Wen Jing’s skin, as if he had personally seen him be burned over and over again and running from death without rest.

Just what kind of life was he living in these past three years?

His scars were gently kissed, and the gentle waft of air from his breathing accompanied the kisses. Wen Jing’s face was a bit red. He quietly said, “Those places are ugly. Shixiong, stop kissing.”

The person behind him didn’t talk. However, the kisses gradually became heavier, as if they were stamps. Wen Jing turned his head to the right, “Shixiong……”

As soon as he turned around, however, he saw Jun YanZhi looking at him with hazy, red eyes filled with tears. Wen Jing instantly felt as if his heart was a bit painful and comforted, “These are all old wounds. They have already stopped hurting a long time ago. It’s just that…… they look a bit ugly.”

Jun YanZhi flipped him around to face him. Tightly encircling him, his voice was hoarse, as if he was sobbing, “I didn’t hurt you on purpose yesterday night……”

“I know.” Wen Jing quickly said, “My transformation was seen through by you, so you thought that I was someone else disguised as myself.”

Jun YanZhi bitterly lowered his head, “If I had accidentally killed you yesterday……”

“I didn’t die though. I will stay with you.” Wen Jing gently stroked his hair, his voice hoarse, “How have you been these few years? I heard that you almost got caught in the Gu Jing sect two years ago……” As he was talking, he felt unbearable heartache and wasn’t able to continue.

Jun YanZhi’s calm voice was a bit cold, “If it wasn’t for them using such low and despicable tactics, how could I have been almost caught by them?”

“What did they do?”

Jun YanZhi opened his mouth and then closed it again.

“What……did they do?” Wen Jing felt a bit nervous.

Jun YanZhi slowly said, “They spread the news that you came out of the Punishing Immortal Tower and were getting medical treatment at Gu Jing sect…… So I hurried over. Once I got there, it turned out that there was a person using a transformation skill to impersonate you. A large trap was set up in the surrounding area, just waiting for me to rush over and hug that person.”

Wen Jing sighed internally. Jun YanZhi was cautious. How could he accidentally fall for the trap? It was only when it came to things related to Wen Jing that even though he knew it was a trap, he couldn’t help but rush over to take a look.

He looked at Jun YanZhi fondly. If it wasn’t because his feelings towards him were so sincere that he could find out the inconsistencies with that person, the two of them probably would’ve already been separated by life and death.

“Now that you’re back, obediently stay by my side. You’re not allowed to go anywhere else.” That voice all of a sudden contained some fear as Jun YanZhi hugged him tighter.

“Okay……”

Jun YanZhi gently stroked his body and scooped up water to help him rinse.

The posture of the two was a bit strange right now. Wen Jing was straddling Jun YanZhi’s legs. Additionally, limited by the available space, his legs were forced to circle his waist. He only felt that there were waves of heat passing over his face. This sitting posture was too embarrassing. He flusteredly backed away, pushing against Jun YanZhi’s chest as he said, “You bathe first. I’ll bathe later……”

He hadn’t finished talking when Jun YanZhi leaned down and pressed him against the tub wall, half-kneeling as he pressed him down.

He hadn’t finished talking when a long tongue pushed in and blocked his mouth.

Wen Jing entangled with him flusteredly and then said with a bit of guilt, “Shixiong, stop for a sec……I, I have to tell you something……”

“Say it later.” Jun YanZhi lowered his head and gently bit his shoulder.

“This, no……”

Jun YanZhi raised his head and once again sucked on his lips. His tongue skillfully hooked and moved around in his mouth, breaking his determination.

Wen Jing forcibly pushed him away and frowned, saying, “It’s like this! I accidentally accepted the first half of the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》……”

Jun YanZhi froze, “That inheritance chose you?”

Wen Jing swallowed his saliva, “It was really an accident. At that time, I didn’t know that the inheritance accepted people outside of Heng Yang palace.”

He uneasily concluded, “I am the person that made your family’s inheritance incomplete.”

Jun YanZhi fell into thought, “……”

Wen Jing guilty said, “Also…… I practiced the first chapter of the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to come out of the Punishing Immortal Tower.”

Jun YanZhi froze again, “You said that if it wasn’t for the first chapter of the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》, you might’ve been——”

“That’s right. I probably would’ve been burned to death.”

Jun YanZhi hoarsely asked, “Just what was going on inside that tower?”

Wen Jing described what happened in the Punishing Immortal Tower and then added, “That ball of flames is probably the spirit guarding the Punishing Immortal Tower. After I dispersed it with sword Qi, it would be unable to recover for a short period of time. However, for some reason, its size also slowly became bigger and bigger. In the end, flames covered the sky and ground, and it could easily scorch a person. Half a month ago, I somewhat got the hang of the first chapter of the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》. I used sword Qi to scatter all the flames in the tower, traced the little sword carving on the wall seven times, and was finally able to escape.”

Jun YanZhi silently pondered for a long time with his eyes lowered.

Wen Jing didn’t dare to interrupt his thoughts or randomly talk, so he silently waited. A slight smile appeared on Jun YanZhi’s face as he lowered his head and looked at him.

Wen Jing was a bit uneasy, “Shixiong, what are you thinking about? What do we do about that inheritance?”

Jun YanZhi’s eyes were full of pity and love as he looked at him. He gently sucked on his lips, and his voice was slightly hoarse, “Since you have already accepted my betrothal gift, then I won’t hold back anymore.”

Wen Jing, “……Betrothal gift?”

The following two days were a blur.

Wen Jing found out that you could also do many things even with the space available in the tub. According to what Jun YanZhi said, “Spacious places have spacious ways of doing it. Limited and narrow places also have their own advantages.” After bathing, he was carried onto the bed to continue, sleepily letting Jun YanZhi put him into strange positions. He plundered and occupied him in many different ways. It was so shameful that he felt ashamed just thinking about it. Jun YanZhi wouldn’t let go of him for even a second. Even when he was fast asleep, he hugged him tight in his arms, seeking promises from him out of fear of losing him again.

Wen Jing suffered three years of grievances, but didn’t he as well? It was unclear who suffered the most……

Two days later at night, Wen Jing, with a tired body and mind, changed into a new set of clean clothes and left the inn with Jun YanZhi. After two days of living a life of being drilled by a pile driver, his mood right now was like a small bird that had experienced all the vicissitudes of life.

Although living together and feeling good together was important, it was also good to be let out for some fresh air.

They came to Li QingRan’s manor one after another.

……However, they were too late.

Nothing was missing anywhere else. It was the same as a few days ago. However, the library looked as if a thief had passed through. A few bookcases had fallen down, and a few hundred books were scattered across the floor. It was a mess.

Wen Jing squatted down and flipped through a few books that were on the ground. He opened his mouth and was a bit speechless.

The turtle had run away. They didn’t catch it.

Jun YanZhi, on the other hand, didn’t have any reactions to it. He slowly walked with the attitude of “even if Mount Tai was pressed on top of him, his expression wouldn’t change” and came to a stop before a big bookcase. His finger slid across the second row of the bookcase. He quietly said, “En, it was taken away.”

“What got taken away?”

“The《Thunder Sword Method》you gave me.”

Wen Jing raised his eyebrow, a bit puzzled. He actually put the real《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》here?

He knew that Jun YanZhi always did things with a plan in mind, so he didn’t ask too much and only said, “What do we do next?”

Jun YanZhi said, “Do you know what happened after that time I escaped from the Gu Jing sect?”

“……What happened?”

“Someone used my name to release the news, saying that the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》was the inheritance of the Heng Yang palace and that if anyone hid it and didn’t return it, I would一一kill everyone in the five great sects.”

“I’ve heard of it.”

Jun YanZhi slowly paced in the library with his hands behind his back. “Afterwards, ShuiYue palace, Sky Balance sect, and Red Maple sect encountered trouble. Small wounds appeared on the bodies of two hundred disciples. The bleeding was unstoppable. In the end, they died of blood loss.”

“I’ve heard of this as well. The thing with Li QingRan, it was your counterplan, right?”

Jun YanZhi said, “I think that no matter who it is that is secretly framing me, he’s already very anxious and impatient. After not being able to catch me at the Gu Jing sect, he spread the fake news, saying that if the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》was not returned, I would wipe out the five great sects. Thus, as soon as something happened to the Red Maple sect, I forced Li QingRan and Sui Rang to put on a good show.”

“After Sui Rang became drunk, he disclosed this in front of many people. Then you forced Li QingRan to run away, creating the illusion that he had a guilty conscience. If that person really cared about the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》, even if he felt that it could be a trap, he would send someone to check it out.”

Jun YanZhi nodded his head, “Using his own method to deal with him.”

Wen Jing frowned, “That person worked so hard to do so many things just for that inheritance?”

Jun YanZhi, facing him with his back, said “I haven’t figured it out after all these years as well. The two inheritances of the Heng Yang palace, other than the direct descendants, no one knows of their existence. How were they publicized that year?”

“……”

“Two days ago, you told me what happened in the Punishing Immortal Tower, and I suddenly had a strange idea.”

“What idea?”

Jun YanZhi looked at him and gently sighed, saying, “The Punishing Immortal Tower is a treasure left by the founder of the Qing Xu Sword sect. However, hearing what you said, I think that the little flame ball isn’t used to kill people, but rather to practice the sword with.”

“That’s right. It indeed seems that way.”

“If someone else enters the Punishing Immortal Tower, the Samadhi True Fire will inevitably burn them to death. However, why did it only accompany you to practice the sword?” Jun YanZhi glanced at him and then continued, “I remember you once said when the first chapter of the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》appeared in your mind, the flames that were about to burn retreated.”

“That’s right.”

Jun YanZhi turned his head, looked at the sword in his hand, and quietly sighed, “Maybe that ball of flames regarded you as the founder.”

Wen Jing blanked for a second, “What do you mean?”

“The sword in your hands is the treasured sword of the founder, Su Xin. At that time, it had meticulously looked it over, right?”

“Yeah.”

“What if the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》is connected to the founder?”

“What do you mean?” Wen Jing was a bit confused.

Jun YanZhi bitterly said, “Maybe, the Punishing Immortal Tower was originally the place where the founder practiced the first chapter ‘Rise from the Ashes.’ It wasn’t a treasure used to murder people at all, but rather where he went to practice the sword.”

Wen Jing stared at him and suddenly had an epiphany, “You’re guessing that the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》was originally the inheritance of the founder! At that time, because I had the first chapter of the inheritance in me and the Su Xin sword in my hand, that ball of flames recognized me wrongly?”

That really could explain everything!

Jun YanZhi pondered, talking to himself, “If it really is like this, the《Five Elements Returning Sword Method》was originally an inheritance of the Qing Xu Sword sect. It is understandable if he wants to take it back, but why did he frame Duan Xuan?”

Wen Jing anxiously asked, “Who framed shifu?”

Tn:

Lol, the tortoise instinctively crawling to the door is hilarious. It already knew something was about to happen when it saw a bed, Wen Jing, and Jun YanZhi all together. Also, Wen Jing, you can finally stop worrying about ruining his inheritance. It’s now your betrothal gift hahahaha. Also, how is You Si connected to this? If the inheritance is tied to the founder, did Jun YanZhi’s ancestors steal or get it from the founder?

Edit: Okay, so my editor found the reason why this chapter seems to skip a bit from the last chapter. It’s because I missed the author’s note. The author originally had Jun YanZhi attacking Wen Jing because he thought that Wen Jing was an imposter, but she couldn’t write it in a way she liked, so she directly had them reunite.

  1. Did I miss something?
Last chapter they were at the trap, and Jun Yanzhi said they should “catch up”. Wen Jing hadn’t been hurt by him. There was no sword wound.
Now they’re suddenly in the hotel room actually catching up with Wen Jing injured somehow. I feel as though there’s a transition missing.

      • I readed in MTL novel that there is another chapter (author kind of made an alternate chapter showing how wen jing got injured by ML) where ML thought that wen jing was a fake one, and then he goes and attacks him stabbing wen jing on his waist

        • Yes, thank you. My editor told me about it, so I should’ve updated the translators note. I might go back and translate that part since she found the other version of the chapter. It might take a while though since I still haven’t gotten to the explicit version of chapter 66 yet. Do you guys want me to add in that part?

    • I think the sword wound was from 3 years ago when he blocked an attack for Jun YanZhi (I don’t quite remember because I haven’t re-read it), and Wen Jing didn’t had yet the chance to heal completely because he didn’t have enough medicine or time.

I also don’t remember Jun YanZhi almost killing him last chapter, I think he might have meant that he was about to kill him if he hadn’t seen his face, so he could have easily killed him without even realizing it was Wen Jing.

      • Ah, I completely forgot about that.

Yeah, I think he means that he was about to kill him after getting some info out of him because he thought that Wen Jing was working for the person framing him. He was probably scared that he would’ve done something to Wen Jing if he didn’t realize it was him.

  2. At the beginning you have wen jing talking about wen jing.
Wen Jing curled up as he watched Wen Jing walk in and close the window. The room instantly fell into darkness.

  3. Ok it makes sense that the founder is related to Jun yanzhi since like,,, he’s a cyan snake and founder of the sect was associated (very likely romantically lol) w that other cyan snake.
Anywho thank you for translating! Hope your finals are going/went well

  4. Oh so it was a gift, that’s good! I love little (not little but in my mind it’s adorable tiny tortise) tortise! I’m happy they got together, it makes me fluffy inside. Thank you for the chapter!

  5. I love the Big Tortoise like it was my own child!! ❤️❤️

So many mysteries~ I still believe Wen Jing and Jun YanZhi are the reincarnation of the snake and the founder. I considered the idea that the hidden villain was another transmigrator that knew the original story, but the hidden villain existed even in the original story. Now I firmly believe that the true villain is the current sect master.

Why? ‘Cause he’s suspicions. The end.

Also, I still believe You Si is either the original author, or something like a deity (someone from a higher stronger realm), and I don’t know if he said this or I imagined it, but I think he might be the one who brought Wen Jing’s soul to this world.

    Thanks for the chapter ~🌸

    • Oh, reincarnations… hm… that actually does sound kinda suspiciously so, or at least they have to be descendants. Like Wen Jing being the descendant of the founder in modern times. Otherwise, why would the sword choose him. Another transmigrator? Ah, that would make sense! Since the person orchestrating this is most likely in the sect, the sect master probably did it since there’s a lot of times when people do these kinds of things for the sake of a position, so he’s definitely sus.

      Hahaha. Logic.

Oh yeah, he definitely seems like a deity since he pointed up towards the sky when talking about where he was returning to. He also said that he played a part in bringing Wen Jing here. But why does he have enmity with Jun YanZhi.

      • It’s fun to think up theories even if most of them will probably be wrong lol~

I think I won’t be able to figure out the truth until it’s shown to us haha~

      • Yeah, it’s so hard to not come up with theories as you are reading lol.

Oh look, one comment about guy A, is he possibly the overall villain? He has gained another suspicious point for this lol

  6. Thank you for the translation! I hope no one else dies in the process of Wen Jing and Jun YanZhi overcoming all this 🥺🥺 (except for the villains maybe. I wouldn’t mind their deaths too much)

Also, when is the author gonna reveal He Ling & Liu QianMo’s relationship? 🤨🤨 /j
